APPLICATION SPOTLIGHT: TELESCOPING ACTUATORS PROVIDE MORE REACH FOR PICK & PLACE APPLICATIONS
More than ever before, shrinking labor pools have driven manufacturers toward automation. Increasing production per square foot leads to higher output and profits; robotics and automation are following this trend by becoming progressively more compact without losing their robust capabilities.
A manufacturer contacted Bimba | EMG, requesting a solution to effectively reach into a press to extract parts without unnecessarily consuming valuable floor space. Our team of applications engineers and designers devised a solution based on a standard belt-driven actuator. The actuator assembly increases the overall stroke by 60%, allowing the assembly to reach deeper into the press, while taking up no additional square footage. Watch a video of the telescoping actuator mechanism in action.
Bimba's TS110 series telescoping actuator is based on the popular B110 actuator, utilizing an extra compliment of linear square rail bearings and a steel carriage to carry the weight of the actuator plus the telescoping payload. The patented ARC Power Self-Tracking timing belt gives the actuator very high thrust capacities, zero backlash and self-tracks for high speed applications.
